1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Tealight Ltd ("we", "us", "our", or the "Company") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Kumo2 website, control panel and related online services.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy. It is intended to support compliance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations ("UK PECR"), the UK GDPR, the EU ePrivacy rules implemented in EU Member States, and the EU GDPR where they apply.

Cookies and similar technologies may include browser cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, scripts, device identifiers and technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device.

2. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your browser or device. They can help a website remember your device, keep you signed in, protect your account, remember preferences, understand how the site is used, or measure referrals and campaigns.

Local storage and similar browser storage can serve similar purposes, even when no cookie file is created. In this policy, references to cookies include similar technologies unless the context says otherwise.

3. How We Ask For Consent

For visitors in the UK, EEA, Switzerland, or another region where opt-in consent is required for optional analytics or referral attribution technologies, we do not use those optional technologies unless you have given consent through our cookie banner or cookie settings.

For visitors in other regions, optional analytics and referral attribution technologies may be enabled by default where local law permits an opt-out approach. You can reject or turn off those optional categories through the cookie banner or "Cookie settings" in the footer.

You can:

  • accept or keep all optional cookies;
  • reject all non-essential cookies;
  • choose optional categories by purpose; or
  • change or withdraw your choices later through "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Rejecting optional cookies does not stop you from using our service. If you are in an opt-in region and do not make a choice, optional cookies remain off and the banner may appear again. If you are in an opt-out region and do not make a choice, optional categories may remain on until you reject or change them.

4. Cookie Categories

4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies and Storage

These are required to provide the website or service you request, keep the service secure, complete checkout, maintain sign-in sessions, prevent fraud or abuse, remember privacy choices, and remember preferences that you actively request, such as language or currency.

These technologies are not optional because the service may not function properly without them. We still provide information about them in this policy.

Examples may include:

  • authentication and session cookies used to keep you signed in;
  • security cookies used for account protection, CSRF protection, abuse prevention or fraud prevention;
  • checkout and billing cookies used to complete a payment or order flow;
  • load balancing or service availability cookies;
  • cookie preference storage used to remember your consent choices;
  • language, currency, interface and similar preference storage requested by you.

4.2 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies and scripts help us understand how visitors use the website, which pages are useful, whether pages load correctly, and which product areas people are interested in.

We may use Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics for this purpose. These tools may collect information such as page URL, referral URL, browser and device information, approximate location derived from IP address, interaction events, and cookie or device identifiers.

Analytics cookies and scripts are optional. In opt-in regions, they are only loaded after you consent to analytics. In regions where an opt-out approach is permitted, they may be enabled by default until you reject analytics or change your cookie settings.

4.3 Referral Attribution and Marketing Measurement

Referral attribution storage helps us understand which referral links or campaigns lead to visits, signups or orders. For example, when a URL contains referral or UTM parameters, we may store those values in a first-party cookie so they can be replayed during signup.

The current first-party referral cookie is used for campaign measurement and partner attribution. It is not required to use the service. In opt-in regions, it remains off unless you consent to referral attribution. In regions where an opt-out approach is permitted, it may be enabled by default until you reject referral attribution or change your cookie settings.

If we later use advertising pixels, retargeting tags, affiliate networks or similar marketing technologies, we will place them in this optional category unless another lawful rule applies.

5. Current Cookies and Similar Storage

The exact cookies may change as our service evolves. We review this list periodically.

5.1 Necessary

  • better-auth.session_token, better-auth-session_token, and secure variants: authentication session cookies used to keep signed-in users authenticated. Duration depends on session settings.
  • better-auth.session_data, better-auth.dont_remember, and secure variants: authentication support cookies used by our sign-in system. Duration depends on session settings.
  • kumo:cookieConsent: local storage used to remember your cookie choices for UK/EU consent purposes. It stays until you change your settings, clear browser storage, or we replace the consent version.
  • kumo_currency: first-party cookie used to remember a currency you selected. It is set for up to 12 months when you choose a currency.
  • kumo:currency: local storage used to remember a currency you selected until you change it or clear browser storage.
  • kumo:viewMode: local storage used to remember your selected interface view mode until you change it or clear browser storage.

5.2 Analytics

  • _ga, _ga_..., _gid, _gat or similar Google Analytics cookies: optional analytics cookies used by Google Analytics after consent. Duration is controlled by Google Analytics configuration and browser behaviour.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics scripts and related identifiers: optional analytics technology used after consent to measure aggregated website traffic and performance.

5.3 Referral Attribution

  • kumo_attr: first-party referral attribution cookie containing referral or UTM values from your landing URL, the landing page, and first-seen timestamp. It is set for up to 30 days after consent when referral parameters are present.

6. Third-Party Providers

Some optional analytics technologies are provided by third parties. These providers may process data for us as service providers or independent controllers depending on their product terms and configuration.

Current or possible providers include:

  • Google Analytics, provided by Google;
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics, provided by Ahrefs.

Where third-party providers process personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms where required, such as adequacy decisions, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent safeguards.

7. Legal Basis

For strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies, we rely on the exemption for technologies that are necessary to provide an online service requested by the user or to transmit a communication. Where those technologies involve personal data, our lawful basis may include contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation, or another lawful basis described in our Privacy Policy.

For optional analytics and referral attribution cookies, we rely on your consent where UK PECR, EU ePrivacy rules, the UK GDPR or EU GDPR require consent.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal, but we will stop optional processing for the affected categories after withdrawal.

8. Managing Your Choices

You can manage cookies in the following ways:

  • use the cookie banner when it appears;
  • use "Cookie settings" in the website footer;
  • use your browser settings to block, delete or limit cookies and site storage;
  • use privacy controls provided by analytics or advertising providers, where available.

If you block all cookies, some parts of the website or control panel may not work. If you clear browser storage, we may no longer remember your previous choices and may ask again.

9. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes to our services, cookies, providers, legal requirements or operational needs.

When changes are material, we may request fresh consent or provide additional notice.
